Forensic Professional Recruitment & Placement Services

HOW MANY OF THESE STATEMENTS DESCRIBE YOUR AGENCY?

  • Just been advised that one of your senior managers has decided to retire and you don’t have anyone groomed for the position?
  • Tired of weeding through the piles of application forms from unqualified applicants?
  • Need just the right person to fill your specific forensic or administrative need?
  • Got plenty of analytical staff but need a mature leader?
  • Need to bring a new supervisor in from the outside?
  • Looking for someone to head up your laboratory QA/QC program?
  • Looking for an analyst who just simply wants to work cases and nothing else?
  • Got a great opening and don’t want to waste it on someone who is not special?
  • Planning on laboratory accreditation and need a QA/QC manager who has “been there and done that” before and can get you through it without losing what hair you have left?

If any of these situations describe what you are feeling as a laboratory director or forensic identification unit supervisor then Ron Smith & Associates, Inc. may be just the company you are looking for. We are continually building a revolving database of forensic job openings around the United States and other countries along with a list of qualified applicants who are looking for a change in position, agency or locations.

We have the personnel, resources and contacts within the forensic science community to become your number one source for filling that very important vacant position within your organization. As you have probably noticed on our website, our company specializes in providing, to the government and private sector forensic science providers, the services that they are not in a position to provide for themselves. One of these services is the location and recruitment of skilled forensic professionals to fill their vacant agency/company positions. We know that there is a desperate need for this type of service within the forensic science community and have spent over two years in the development of a product which meets that need.

General job placement service companies, although good at what they do, do not know enough about the specific requirements of forensic positions to locate and screen the potential applicants to fill the positions. They don’t understand QA/QC as it applies to ASCLD-LAB requirements; they don’t understand the skills necessary to qualify as a Technical Leader in DNA, or any other forensic discipline for that matter. They don’t know what forensic certification by the I.A.I. is and why it is a mandatory requirement for some positions. They don’t understand the problems in finding that special person who is cross trained to the extent that they can fill a division coordinator position over a crime scene investigation unit. They don’t understand the similarities between the functions of a forensic specialist working in a toxicology unit and a controlled substance unit. They simply don’t know our business. We do.

Based upon our research and interviews with numerous agency Human Resource Directors, this technical service will greatly aid these non-forensic personnel managers in screening applicants for their forensic position openings. They certainly wish to assist their forensic managers in locating and hiring the very best candidates for their positions, but because of their lack of forensic expertise they simply cannot accurately evaluate the credentials of the large number of applicants for positions within their agency. Ron Smith & Associates, Inc. certainly has the technical expertise within our staff to properly and accurately evaluate the credentials of each applicant to determine if they indeed possess the necessary education, training and experience to meet, or exceed, the requirements of each position.

Our management staff includes career forensic professionals with many years of forensic laboratory management experience. We fully realize that employers simply want the most qualified candidates to apply for their open positions, but don’t have the resources,
or time, to seek out these highly qualified individuals. Many qualified candidates are seriously considering a job change, but don’t wish to jeopardize their current position, or opportunity for advancement, by publicly announcing their intentions. Ron Smith & Associates, Inc. provides that quiet, discreet connection between the open position and the professional forensic specialist. In the private business world this type of service has flourished for years, and it certainly could be of great service to so many individuals and agencies within the forensic science community. We very much look forward to providing that service.

JOB PLACEMENT SERVICES WE CAN PROVIDE TO YOUR AGENCY OR COMPANY

Option A: Yearly Contract for General Placement Services

Ron Smith & Associates, Inc. is able to provide to your agency / company a subscription based service in which our Job Placement Division actively searches for, locates and
pre-qualifies potential applicants for your agency throughout the subscription year. In return for your annual subscription fee you will receive the following:

1. Unlimited posting of all of your openings to our computerized database against which the potential applicants are cross-referenced and individually matched by our forensically trained job placement specialists. (This is a continual process and cross-referencing will continue throughout the entire subscription period.)

2. Unlimited editing requests of all your job postings for the entire subscription period. (salary changes, closing dates, etc.)

3. Email notification with detailed attachments of all matching candidate personal profiles of qualified candidates who have authorized the release of their profiles to prospective employers.

4. Email notification informing you that we have forwarded your job posting to
( # ) of applicants who appear to be qualified but whom have not granted us permission to share their personal profiles with prospective employers.
These potential candidates will be provided your contact information along with all the posted specifics about the position.

5. Upon request we will have one of our forensic managers personally consult with you regarding how your job descriptions, salaries and benefit packages match up with other similar positions in the forensic science industry. This can serve as a great benefit when attempting to upgrade positions or gain additional hiring flexibility for “hard-to-fill” positions. Depending upon the availability, we can provide you the complete job postings of similar jobs within our extensive database which you can then use to support your salary surveys required so often for upgrading of positions.

The subscription fees for Option A are based upon the size of your forensic staff, to include supervisory staff members, but not clerical support staff. Obviously, larger agencies will have the potential for more vacancies; therefore the volume of services that we would be required to provide would be greater as the size of the agency grows. Smaller agencies will have less of a continual need and their subscription fees would be commensurate with their reduced requirements.

The 2007 Job Placement Agency Subscription Fees are as follows:

Account Type Per Year
1-10 Forensic Employees on Staff $2,000.00
11-20 Forensic Employees on Staff $4,000.00
21-50 Forensic Employees on Staff $6,000.00
51-100 Forensic Employees on Staff $10,000.00
101+ Forensic Employees on Staff $15,000.00

Your agency/company may subscribe to this service by contacting Ron Smith & Associates, Inc. at our toll free number 1-866-832-6772 and asking for the New Accounts Section of Job Placement Division. A trained representative will discuss with you the services you have requested and proceed to set up a client account for you. You can either pay be agency credit card at that time or, if you prefer, we can submit an invoice for payment to your agency. Either way, we can activate your service account immediately and get started on assisting you with your current employment needs. Renewal notices and invoices for subsequent subscription years would be mailed out electronically and via U.S. Mail ninety (90) days before the end of each contract year to insure uninterrupted service. For most agencies this method of a yearly subscription and invoicing once a year is much simpler to handle since it becomes a planned and budgeted line item in advance.

There is indeed a wealth of technical expertise out there, and we will do all we possibly can to provide hiring agencies with the very best candidates from which to choose.

If you wish to discuss this, or any of our other forensic services, with Ron Smith directly then please feel free to call the toll free number 1-866-832-6772 or contact him by email at ron@ronsmithandassociates.com.

Option B: Critical Need (Head Hunting) Service

As forensic administrators, we have all found ourselves from time to time in that unenviable position of losing a major player on our management or technical team. It could have been retirement, illness, relocation of a spouse or many other legitimate reasons, but regardless, you are now left in a quandary. You need immediate help in launching an advanced search for that forensic professional who can fill that immediate void and keep the internal problems from becoming mammoth in proportion. How do you go about solving the problem? The customary method in forensic science is to post the opening in all the usual places and take your chances with someone seeing the advertisement. Maybe it will work, but probably all you will do is delay the inevitable conclusion that you have to be aggressive in filling this level of technical management or leadership position. In years gone by it has not been the nature of government agencies to “Head Hunt” for just the right person but it has now become the preferred method of the future due to the desperate needs which exist within the forensic science community. This is a very common practice in the business world and a very cost effective process. The problem is that government agencies do not know how to proceed with “Head Hunting” themselves. Once again a void exists, and that is where Ron Smith & Associates, Inc. is able to provide a unique service to government agencies or private sector companies.

This service is not about only seeking out individuals who have expressed an interest in moving on to another agency. That is actually a small, but valuable, part of the head hunting service we provide. With the right information from you, we proceed to actively recruit individuals who possess the specific credentials you require for your vacant position. We use our vast list of contacts and resources within the profession to scour both the public and private sector for a list of qualified individuals for you to consider.

We contact them and do our best to inform them about your vacant position, your agency, your benefit package, the benefits of living in your area, quality of life issues in your locale, and the myriad of things which are almost never seen on job advertisements, but which are the essence of quality employment and a quality life. We put your best foot forward on your behalf and get them interested in talking with you about the position. You can take it from there. Basically, we function as the sales people for your agency or company.

As is common in the business sector, the fees associated with this premier “Head Hunting” service are based upon a percentage basis of the first year’s final negotiated salary. Our fees are also based upon our level of success in finding just the right person for your open position and are contingent upon how well we perform for your agency or company.

Once we establish an active account for you, an aggressive search will be initiated and this search will remain active until the position is filled. We do require that a retainer fee be paid in advance with an additional performance fee being paid if, and only if, we can find a person who meets your requirements and one who will accept the position with your agency. This retainer fee will function as a full time service contract on your account and will enable us to move rapidly and aggressively on your behalf. Of course, you will be periodically advised of the progress of the “head hunting” being conducted as the process continues. This retainer fee is equal to 10% of the posted starting annual salary for the position. For example, if the posted starting annual salary for this position is $75,000.00 then the retainer fee will be $7,500.00. An inspection of the internet will quickly show that this is considerably less than the normal fee within the private business and technology sector, but we feel that it is a fair and reasonable amount for the services we will provide.

The remainder of the fee we receive for this valuable job placement service becomes due and payable only if we are able to locate for you the correct person for the job and only if they are willing to accept the position if it is offered. The amount of this contingency fee is equal to 10% of the actual negotiated starting salary for the position when it is filled. For example, if the final negotiated starting salary for the position was $80,000.00 then the contingency fee would be $8,000.00. An invoice for this amount would be submitted to your agency or company after the new employee actually begins their employment.

Option C: Customized Solutions

Agencies which have unusual needs which require customized solutions can contact Ron Smith & Associates, Inc. to discuss their specific situation. A customized solution to include pricing will be developed with a formal written proposal being submitted to you for consideration.
